How-To: Flash the latest radio on your HTC One S

Already taken the jump and flashed a custom ROM onto your HTC One S? Well then you might want to consider updating your radio firmware as well. Here is how!

First you might be asking, why should I flash a new radio image? Well let me give you some reasons to do so. Improved signal quality as well as wifi and bluetooth connectivity. Improved GPS/aGPS functionality and even better battery life due to the improved signal quality.

So what are you waiting for? Lets get started. It wont take long, I promise!

Step 1: Grab the latest radio image. Use the change log button to check whether its for the US or EU version of the One S. Then copy it over to your SD-Card.

Step 2:  Download the latest Clockwork Recovery image for the Ville. Make sure its a version built on or after 29th of April, 2012.

Step 3: Now, reboot your device into bootloader mode, either by clicking some magic reboot button or simply using adb

adb reboot bootloader

Step 4: Now we will boot up directly into the recovery image we downloaded.

fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ville.img

Step 5: Now we are in a non-restricted recovery environment which isnt technically a proper recovery mode, hence why we are able to flash a new radio image. Now simply flash the radio image .zip-file and reboot. That all there is to it, really.
